BREITKREUZ TO DELIVERY SAME-SEX MARRIAGE SPEECH MONDAY

“I am very pleased to be able to take these letters, e-mails and faxes to the floor of the House of Commons and add the voices from Yorkton-Melville to the millions of others opposed to same-sex marriage.”

OTTAWA – With the Liberals’ same-sex marriage bill, C-38, on the table, parliamentary debate is set to resume in the House of Commons next week. Among those slated to speak out against the bill is Conservative M.P. Garry Breitkreuz.

Breitkreuz, federal Member of Parliament for Yorkton-Melville, has been inundated with letters, e-mails, faxes and phone calls from constituents and other Canadians opposed to changing the definition of marriage from its traditional form as a union between one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others.  He will be representing the wishes of the vast majority of his constituents who oppose this bill.

“I am very pleased to be able to take these letters, e-mails and faxes to the floor of the House of Commons and add the voices from Yorkton-Melville to the millions of others opposed to same-sex marriage,” said Breitkreuz. “It is my hope that these collective voices will help to defend the institution of marriage which has served as the foundation for Canadian families since our country’s inception in 1867.”

Breitkreuz is to address the House of Commons with a ten-minute speech scheduled to begin at 12:10 p.m. (Eastern Time) Monday, March 21st. Bill C-38 is expected to go to committee some time in April with the final vote anticipated before the House rises in June.
